The beautiful game

Well, I have always a big fan of cricket and tennis and both games i enjoy a lot. But then a thought occurred to me as to why footbal aka soccer has the greatest fan folllowing in the world? With the World cup in progress.. i decided to really try to analyse the reasons behind this mania! THough i really started gettin into this game quite a few years back, thanks to CAS in our city, watching football league matches was luxury! So the WC gave me a real chance to get to know more. And I now admit that I have completely amazed by the sheer passion and spirit of the game. The opening match's first goal, when Philip Lahm sent the 8 inch diameter white ball with the adidas logo written all over it, and was reasearched on for months, was simply ming boggling. The way the ball curved, as shown in ultramotion was felt as if my heart beats had suddenly gone out of rhythm. Soccer is a wonderful game , easy to comprehend yet complicated. For some , it may be a show of skill, for some it may lead to topics of research in physics. A 90 minute game is like an exhilarating thrill ride. I thought so far, that only the moments when goals are scored, will the matches be really exciting. But i really learnt what defence meant! An talk of comebacks, by the socceroos in their opening game.. It was the first time I showed a conspicuous gesture during the game's progress. Now I have completely immerserd myself in thie greatest show on earth and even more by the beautiful game. I am off now to select my players for the fantasy world cup game.
